Suncore is making steady progress on the I-15 Hamilton Fort project south of Cedar City. The work covers 13 miles of northbound I-15, from the Kanarraville rest stop to the South Cedar Interchange, and includes the addition of a third lane. Crews are also rebuilding the northbound side of the Hamilton Fort interchange bridge and making improvements to the interchange.
Once complete, the additional lane will help relieve congestion along a heavily traveled stretch of interstate where slower-moving trucks can create bottlenecks. The improvements will also support safer, more consistent travel through the corridor.
UDOT has been an outstanding partner throughout the project. Open communication and timely conflict resolution has helped Suncore maintain progress while working through the challenges that come with a project of this size.
Just as important has been the work performed by Suncore’s field crews and its aggregate and asphalt divisions.
“The quality of work produced by our crews is among the finest I have witnessed in my more than 25-year career,” said Kelly Cox, construction area manager at Suncore. “Each week, I continue to be impressed by the way everyone involved works together and takes pride in doing the job right. Their professionalism and dedication have been a major part of this project’s success. A huge thank you to everyone involved!”
Suncore appreciates every employee and project partner who has contributed to the work. They are helping the project move forward, delivering big improvements for those who travel this important southern Utah corridor.
