When a customer needed help managing a safety concern near Suncore’s Blackrock Pit, our team was ready to step in.

ADW Communications was working on the Arizona DPS Low Mountain Project, helping construct a cell tower that will provide important radio coverage for Arizona DPS in remote areas. Because of the location, a helicopter crane was needed to transport materials to the jobsite.

The staging area for the lift was located near Suncore’s Blackrock Pit along I-15 near the Utah-Arizona border. During helicopter operations, heavy dust began to affect visibility in the area. The dust cloud was large enough that motorists on I-15 reportedly thought a helicopter had crashed.

Recognizing the potential safety risk, Suncore team member Dan Moore took immediate action. He mobilized a water truck and wet down the staging area, helping reduce airborne dust and improve visibility for both the jobsite crew and drivers passing by on I-15.

Dan’s response is a good example of what it looks like to support our customers, look out for others, and help build a better community. By stepping in when it mattered, he helped create a safer situation for everyone nearby.

“We’re always looking for ways to help when a need comes up,” said Shane Hyde, concrete sales representative at Suncore. “In this case, Dan saw a situation that could impact safety and responded right away. That kind of support is part of who we are.”

Great work, Dan, and thank you for representing Suncore well.
